Abbeyfield

Abbeyfield is a national organisation providing housing with care for older people. There are 700 houses throughout the UK run by some 300 Abbeyfield Societies, providing very sheltered housing in 'supportive houses'. Abbeyfield houses are set up and run by groups of local volunteers.

There is an Abbeyfield house in the friendly East Hertfordshire town of Bishop's Stortford, details are in this website.

The Abbeyfield Family

Abbeyfield has a family atmosphere and residents are free to come and go as they wish and have their own key. Our House Manager provides a caring and supportive service as well as delicious home cooking. Here is a comment from one of our present residents:

"I lived on my own for nearly 20 years and I was reluctant to give up my independence. Our vicar told me that I wouldn't lose my independence if I joined Abbeyfield House. He was right. It's the best decision I have made for a long time and I'm very happy here with friends."

Full information on the Abbeyfield Organisation can be found at www.abbeyfield.com.
